Covenant Community Concert Benefits Foster Youth in Kern County

4th Annual Covenant Community Concert Raises Funds for Foster Youth in Kern County

Bakersfield, CA – The 4th Annual Covenant Community Concert brought together music lovers and philanthropists for a night of giving, dancing, and heartfelt testimonies, all benefiting foster youth in Kern County. The event, held at Salty’s Banquet and Event Center on Saturday March 8, 2025, celebrated the community’s commitment to restoring lives and transforming generations.

The concert featured an incredible lineup, starting with the opening band Beckie Aguilar and Lost Vinyl, who set the stage for an unforgettable evening. Local music icons Glenda Robles and Ted Spanke made special guest appearances, adding a personal touch to the night’s musical offerings. The local “queens of music” brought the crowd to their feet.

But it was the headliner, international blues artist Orphan Jon, who brought the crowd to their feet with his personal story of life as a foster child. Orphan Jon and the Abandoned gave an electrifying performance that was a true highlight, and Jon’s presence added even more meaning to the event. Jon English, aka Orphan Jon, used his own story of overcoming hardship to inspire others, was the inspiration to launch the concert’s mission to give back to foster youth.

The evening wasn’t just about music; it was also about making a tangible difference. Guests enjoyed a delicious BBQ meal provided by Salty’s BBQ and participated in live and silent auctions with all funds benefiting Covenant Community Services. The event’s support helps provide hope, resources, and services for local foster youth, ensuring they receive the care and opportunities they deserve.

Two courageous foster youth shared their powerful stories of resilience and triumph, inspiring the crowd with their experiences of overcoming adversity. Their testimonies emphasized the importance of community support in helping young people turn their lives around.

The concert also featured a special pre-event luncheon the day before, where Jon English sat down with 15 current and former foster youth. During the lunch, Jon shared his personal journey and spoke candidly about his desire for family, structure, and normalcy. He encouraged the youth, reminding them that their past does not define their future, and that they have the power to create a new path for themselves.

Event sponsors, including Title Sponsor Surf Thru Car Wash, ensured the success of the evening, as did the youth luncheon sponsors Randy and Loree Trout. Table sponsors included Marj Nixon, Pete and Debbie Ramirez, and David and Jan Nicholas, all of whom played a significant role in making the event possible.

Attendees danced, socialized, and enjoyed the lively atmosphere while supporting a cause close to the heart of the Kern County community. The event was a resounding success, further solidifying the important work of Covenant Community Services in providing hope and support for foster youth in the area.
